Remorseful Tyga Apologizes For Lyrics That, After Close Analysis, Could Possibly Be Interpreted as Demeaning to Women

Tyga, who is apparently completely against misogyny and the disrespect of women.

In a move shocking to many, world-reknown hip-hop artist and rapper Tyga called Harvard University President Drew Faust late Sunday night to apologize after realizing that his lyrics could be seen as misogynistic.

Speaking to his fans via Facebook, Tyga released a brief statement relating to the call:

“To all my fans, and women everywhere: Please forgive me for any misunderstanding relating to my music’s treatment of women.  When I wrote the line ‘Shut the fuck up and jump on this dick. Nothing but a motherfucking skank’ in Bitch Betta Have My Money, it didn’t even cross my mind that those lyrics, after close analysis, could possibly be interpreted as demeaning to women.”

Tyga, who has been selected as the lead performer for Yarfest 2013, has come under heavy fire recently from the Harvard community, but his apology definitely seems to have soothed many who felt disrespected by his message.

“I really thought that Tyga believed that women’s role in life was to serve as sexual toys for the pleasure of men,” said Laura Cabrera ’13, who was particularly offended by the phrase “need a bitch that can fuck, cook, clean, right” in Bitches Ain’t Shit.

Cabrera seemed satisfied by Tyga’s apology: “To be sure, his statement means a lot.  I’m confident that Tyga never meant to make it seem like women are sub-human, subservient objects that exist solely for the pleasures of men.”

Tyga has promised to have new, respectful songs ready for Yardfest such as, “Vote With Dat Ass,” and “Consent Shake.”
